3 Things I Love Concerning Venice from DJ Anthony Valadez

DJ Anthony Valadez is often a proud Venice resident and in special event of his appearance as of this weekend’s Abbot Kinney Festival (5-6pm on The Brig Stage) they shares some of his favored things about the city:

I was born and raised in the Southern California. I gone to live in Venice close to two years ago whilst still being to this day explore just about every road, avenue, canal and street.

1) Townhouse, located in the heart of Venice off Windward.

This is where the locals all blend in with your tourists of the world who remain across the two hostels located down the street.   Décor is on point along with the music is always graat every Thursday night night with yours truly about the turntables (shameless plug).  But even if I pass by during the day, it has an old nostalgic feel because speak easy jazz performs and you can always see a few old timers sitting up with the bar.

2)  Mao’s Kitchen

The dim lighting, chow mein along with great service always does it for me. I thought that chances are I would be been tired of this food, but I always find myself craving much more!  The atmosphere has a lot to do with choosing this spot.

Im unclear who is in charge of the music alternatives but this person is really fashionable!  From Bjork to some hip hop through some other portion of the world, Small Threat to Sioxsie and the Banshees, the music activity always helps the mood even though waiting for your food.

3)  Intelligentsia Espresso

The entire stretch of Abbot Kinney is a great area with lots of cool shops.  Unfortunately due to the recent downfall in the economy several of these shops have closed down but brand new ones have popped up.

Whether the shoe shopping or adding along with your girlfriend to shop for sundresses (wippy) this can be a spot to do so.  And the best part will be Intelligentsia is the place to grab your glass of joe while the process. The architecture and spacing alone of this small, but hip, joint is worth your visit.  And the quality is actually unlike anything I have ever sampled!
